To check the status of fingerprints submitted to the RCMP, you must contact the Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services (CCRTIS) directly. It is recommended to wait at least 3 weeks after submission before following up.

Information You Must Provide:

  • Full legal name

  • Date of birth

  • Date of fingerprint submission

  • Reason for the fingerprint check

  • 20-digit Document Control Number (DCN) (provided on your receipt by the fingerprinting agency)

How to Inquire:

  • By Email: Send an email including all the required details listed above.

  • By Phone: Call during business hours and provide the same information to the agent.

Processing Times:

  • No criminal record / no match: As fast as 3 business days

  • Potential match or manual review: Up to 120 business days

  • Additional time may be required if results are mailed.

Important Notes:

  • Only the applicant can request a status update from the RCMP.

  • If your fingerprints were submitted through an accredited private agency, they generally cannot check the status for you.
