Level 1 Criminal Record Check:
This is our most popular and most requested check. It’s the perfect choice for anyone who needs a basic Criminal Record Check (CRC), including employees and volunteers in fields like: Retail, Labor, Trades, Administration, Manufacturing, Construction and Management
A CRC will provide criminal convictions from the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) and/or local police databases, as well as any findings of guilt under the Youth Criminal Justice Act within the applicable disclosure period.
Level 2 Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
This check is for roles that require a more detailed review of an individual’s background, particularly for positions with sensitive responsibilities.
In addition to criminal convictions, this check also reveals outstanding charges and warrants, judicial orders, peace bonds, and probation or prohibition orders. It also includes absolute and conditional discharges (for 1 and 3 years, respectively).
- Important: This is not a Vulnerable Sector Check. If you’ll be working with vulnerable people, you must contact your local police service directly. Please confirm with the requesting organization which type of check you need.
Canadian Police Information Centre Check (CPIC)
Forensics Canada Inc has signed an agreement with Cobourg Police Service to conduct name-based criminal record checks of the RCMP’s Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) system. This search includes a check of the National Repository of Criminal Records based on the applicant’s name and date of birth.

Criminal record checks can be done using either name and date of birth of the applicant or fingerprints based. In order to obtain a certified record check, fingerprint submission is required. When a name and date of birth check matches another individual, fingerprints will be required to verify your identity.

No, you are welcome to walk-in to our Toronto office (200 Town Centre Court #5, Scarborough, ON M1P 4X8) with two (2) items of government issued identification for a police check.
A name and date of birth based police record check does not list any offences. It will indicate only whether a criminal record is associated with the applicant’s name and date of birth. A certified criminal record check through RCMP however may show a summary of offence (s) for which a record suspension (pardon) has not been granted.
No, if you have a criminal record your criminal record check will come back as “incomplete” and you will lose the fee paid for CPIC name check. You will have to submit your fingerprints to RCMP to obtain a criminal record check with additional applicable fee.
Bring two (2) pieces of govt issued identification. This is mandatory to comply with RCMP policy for issuing a Police Background Check in Canada.
