Apostille Service
What is an apostille?
An apostille confirms the authenticity of the signature and official seal appearing on an eligible public document. For RCMP certified Criminal Record Checks, the apostille is issued by Global Affairs Canada. Forensics Canada Inc. provides professional assistance with document review, application preparation, submission coordination, secure handling and return delivery
Important: Our service does not shorten Global Affairs Canada’s processing time. It helps reduce preventable errors and makes the submission process easier for clients in Canada and abroad.

Document Eligibility and Processing Time
Is Your Document Eligible?
Not all documents follow the same apostille process. Municipal or provincial police checks, name-based CPIC checks, and photocopies may require notarization or additional preparation before they can be apostilled.
Send us a clear scanned copy of your document, and we will review it before you proceed.
What Is the Current Processing Time?
Estimated Total Time: Approximately 4–6 Weeks
This estimate includes Global Affairs Canada processing and document delivery time. Processing times may change depending on application volume and operational factors. Expedited government processing is generally not available, and a specific completion date cannot be guaranteed.
Please refer to Global Affairs Canada’s website for the current processing time.
Global Affairs Canada currently reports processing requests received approximately 20 business days ago and advises adding mailing time, normally 5–10 business days when shipping from within Canada.

Apostille vs. Authentication and Legalization
If the destination country is a party to the Apostille Convention:
Your apostilled RCMP Criminal Record Check should generally be accepted without additional legalization. However, you should confirm the final requirements with the authority requesting your document.
If the destination country is not a party to the Apostille Convention:
Global Affairs Canada may still issue an apostille when authenticating your document. However, additional legalization by the embassy, high commission, or consulate of the destination country may also be required. Confirm the requirements with the receiving authority before proceeding.
View the list of countries that are parties to the Hague Apostille Convention.
Global Affairs Canada confirms that it issues apostilles for authenticated documents even when the destination country is not a party to the Convention; additional legalization may then be required.
